Time to disable Java!
Another day and another security exploit that takes advantage of Java. This time it is a nasty one.
From (Reuters) August 27, 2012:
“Computer security firms are urging PC users to disable Java software in their browsers, saying the widely installed, free software from Oracle Corp opens machines to hacker attacks and there is no way to defend against them.
The warnings, which began emerging over the weekend from Rapid7, AlienVault and other cyber security firms, are likely to unnerve a PC community scrambling to fend off growing security threats from hackers, viruses and malware.”
Disable Java in IE
Internet Explore or IE is the default browser that comes with Windows. The latest version is IE 9 which is compatible with Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008.
If you are still using Windows XP then the latest version that is compatible with your operating system is IE 8. If you are one of those poor souls still using IE 6 on XP, PLEASE UPGADE! Not only is using IE 6 a security concern to you and your fellow internet users, it is also a pain to support for those of us who design websites. Please make a web designer happy and upgrade now.

Google Chrome is by far my favorite browser. Not only is it fast but, as website design/support professional, it gives me the least amount of trouble. Since its release it has been steadily gaining market share on Firefox and IE. If you haven’t given it a try I suggest you do.
With the speed, standard support, and tab syncing across my computer, smart phones, and tablets it has become my goto browser.
